every year the school has a spelling bee, they take the top three of each class and have an assembly where the top three face off with the top three of the other classes in their grade. this year tegan made it. i was amazed and even he was so surprised how well he did, we kind of forgot to practice any of the lists that were sent home. whoops. so he then began to study, 3 weeks behind everyone else. he studied and studied the words. he was so nervous to try this out since it is very outside of his comfort level. he didn't care if he won or not, he just didn't want to get out on the first word.
well, he got out on his first word, what he really really didn't want to happen but he wasn't the only one who got out on the first round and i was still so proud of him trying it out.
plus i feel like the words that have multiple spellings don't need to be one the spelling bee list. out of all the words in the world having to listen to the definition while also trying to hurry and spell a word seems a little unfair. his word was throughout. which he spelt threw out.
he was instantly bummed, you could see it in his eyes and the second it was over he was in my arms in tears but he did it! he tried his hardest and that is all you can do sometimes. way to go tego. you did amazing and tried something that really pushed you, an accomplishment in itself.
