our 10 night trip with the fullers and henkles.
we flew from here to orlando, florida hoped on a cruise ship for a 3 night cruise to the bahamas and coco cay island, once getting off the ship we drove back over to orlando where we did a day at universal studios then hopped back in the car and headed down to our beach house in jupiter florida for the remainder of our stay. IT WAS SO FUN.
first off, i will say i don't know if i will ever do a cruise ship again. there is something eerie about being at sea, in a huge ocean with who knows how many miles deep of water and creatures under you. there was also something kinda cool about it too watching the sun set with no horizon. we had some rough seas the first two nights, which made things interesting. since i get so motion sick i knew i needed to prepare before hand. i took dramamine both morning and night, wore the scopalamine patch and did some oils every few hours and i still struggled that first night. but i think we all did. the pools were splashing waves over 10ft high, by morning there was no water left in the pools. at times we would lose our footing from the rocking of the waves. nate didn't quite surviving the first night, he spent most of his time by the toilet, poor fella. the rest of us had to stay out on the deck, anytime we would go inside i would instantly feel barfy. as long as the breeze and fresh air was on me i was good. we stayed and played shuffleboard on the deck til the wee hours of the morning trying to survive. we docked that day in nassau, bahamas. it was fun to walk around the little town, see the similarities and differences of there to here. i wasn't a fan of that city though. it was gross and dirty and the people weren't friendly. we did a snorkeling excursion in the afternoon then headed back to the ship. the next day we docked at coco cay, bahamas. a small 1 mile from side to side island. we rented some kayaks and kayaked around, laid on the beach and enjoyed the sun. this was also the day that the world found out kobe bryant died that morning. it was so strange when it happened. we barely had service but someone must of had just enough, the news spread soooo quickly, everyone was siting up in their loungers and perking up from their naps so quickly to hear. you could physically see the news as it spread down the beach. it was crazy.
the ship that night was the only night it didn't rock. it was so nice to have an evening to enjoy being inside the ship. fun shows and lots of things to do.
the next morning we all piled off the ship and headed to orlando to go to universal studios. universal studios orlando was awesome. such an amazing park. not sure if that was the best idea to do after getting off a cruise ship, we all felt so weird and wobbly but it was a blast.
after a fun day there we drove the 2.5 hours to jupiter, florida where our house was. needless to say that was a long day.
the next few days were spent doing all sorts of things, swimming in the pool, sitting in the hot tub, lots of beach days, lots of boogie boarding, going to fort lauderdale to do an airboat and see some alligators. game nights. and lots and lots of sun.
then home we came. a long day of flights back to the kiddos. brittney and logan watched the kids for the 10 days while we were away and they had a blast. mya came down with influenza b a few days after we left, sherrie took her to the doctor, they thought she had strep but turns out it wasn't. brittney said she hasn't ever seen someone so sick, she missed 5 days of school and wasn't feeling well for 7 of the days we were gone. it was hard to be away and not be here for her but i knew she was in good hands, brittney and logan took such good care of the kids. ayla started to get it the day before we came home so we came home to a sick sick little girl but i was happy to get all the snuggles and keep her home with me the following week. luckily it ended there and no one else got it.
