christmas and new years...

Christmas this year was perfect. the kids are such a fun age. they knew what they wanted and they were so excited when they opened their presents. like usual the party starts a few days before Christmas. we started it off by going and seeing the lights in Caldwell Friday night. they were beautiful. you get to walk around downtown Caldwell in a loop of lights. i haven't ever seen so many lights in one place before. they have a little creek that runs through the city, it was such a fun evening.

Christmas Eve was spent with chases family. we went to build a bear in the morning, that's one of the gifts that marty and sherrie got all the grandkids for christmas. pizza pie for lunch. home for naps and of course more hokey bobbing! mckenzie and morgan joined in on the fun this time. we spent the afternoon sledding around, then we went to chases parents house for the gift exchange and snacks. we ended the night at my parents for pajama opening then home we came to get the kiddos to sleep before santa arrived.
burke and mckenzie collided. burke lost his beanie and looked like an old man with all the snow in his hair and kenz ended up with a bloody nose.
sherrie and marty did a bingo game this year. once bingo was reached the kids got to go and get their gift and open it. we played multiple rounds to get everyone their gifts.
it isn't Christmas eve at my parents house until we ALL match. i love that tradition.

the kiddos wrote the cutest letters to santa this year.

Christmas morning we woke up to a family room full of gifts.

 mya and ayla:

ayla got her kitty bike with pedals. mya got her Vikings blanket and a clock. Burke got his buffalo bills jersey and helmet. Tegan got his sock monster and soccer goalie gloves. and a whole lot more stuff came in their stockings. we told the kids they couldn't wake up until 7. we could hear them chatting in the boys room, they all slept together, at 640. but sure enough no one came in until 7:02. we came down and checked out their loot, went through their stockings then waited for ayla to wake up to open presents. they couldn't handle it anymore so we let them go wake her up at 8. she was so tired still she couldn't handle it. there was zero excitement from her. it was hilarious. we opened presents, hung out for a bit then got ready to go to church with my parents and family.

after church we went to eat Christmas lunch at my parents and opened some presents, we skyped with uncle steve, aunt bavia and powell who were in spain this year. then we came home to relax and let chases parents come and see the kiddos and everything they got. it was busy but I wouldn't have it any other way.

the week after Christmas was spent hookey bobbing, watching a TON of movies, going to a few movies, a few dates for chase and I, some sleepovers for the big kids and a lot of laying around. new years was spent here with my little family playing games and going to be early. its not like me to do a chill holiday but I was too tired to do anything else. we rang in the new year at 9:00pm with some sparkling cider and making goals for this year then to sleep we went. it was awesome.
mya got a litte frost nip from hookey bobbing one night when it was 9 degrees out. but all was well in the morning and she never complained about it hurting. hallelujah.
