spring break 2022 was one for the books. we had the very best time. we left to california for 9 days with the egginton's, erickson's and stephenson's to hop on a 4 night cruise down to mexico and back. while we were down there we did a few beach days before and after and we squeezed in a clippers v. 76ers bball game. when the eggintons called and said lets drive to california and hop on a cruise for spring break i kinda thought, you are crazy! thats a long drive, but we are always down for a party and figured why not and im sure glad we did. the drive was actually one of my favorite parts. its not everyday i'm trapped in the car with my kiddos for 14 hours at a time. or better yet they are trapped with me! it was fun to spend time with them and just them, to talk, chat, laugh, and giggle. when we got there we were able to grab dinner with jacque and her family and kept heading to santa monica where we stayed the first two nights. we spent the first day at the beaches over there then headed down to long beach to get onto the ship on monday. the kids had their own room and ayla stayed in the room with chase and i. when we booked we were under the impression we would be connected but we weren't and i think they were pretty excited about that. since we were with so many friends the kids had a blast and they were old enough to go and do their thing most of the time on the ship. they ate and ate and ate some more. so much ice cream and hamburgers were eaten. they ran around, loved the kids club, were in and out of the hot tubs all hours of the day and always in the food areas.
our first stop was catalina island where we rented golf carts and explored the island then snorkeled for a little bit off the rocky beach then headed back to the boat.
the second day we were in ensenada mexico were we hoped a ride to a local beach where we rented surf boards and boogie boards, chairs and umbrellas and spent hours and hours laying in the sun on the sand. it was so much fun. there was a local gas station type store right there where we could snag some treats and a few vendors came by along the beach. the kids played frisbee and got pretty good at surfing by the end of the day! i somehow burnt my left foot terrible bad here. it turned out to swell up like a balloon, gave us a good amount of comic relief for the rest of the trip.
the next day was spent at sea, we explored the boat, played lots of mini golf, had lots of ice cream cones. the boys all got chains at the jewelry store and we laid around the pool.
we had fun every night laying by the pool watching movies, going to all the shows, eating mountains of food at breakfast, lunch and dinner and trying all sorts of new foods out, everyone tried alligator and octopus, even a few attempted the oysters.
after getting back on land we headed up to , it was actually the chilliest day and no one dared even get into the water. we played on the sand then headed into downtown to go to the clippers game. the next day we got up and started to make the 14 hours trek back home.
