we finally got to go to MEXICO! a year later than previously planned and we were all just a little excited to go...
holy smokes. it was SO MUCH FUN. i can't even express how much fun it was. we had a blast. everything about it was amazing, fun, and memorable, well minus the yacht ride home, i didn't know if i was going to make it, so so sick. ewww. i couldn't get off that boat fast enough. we spent the week eating, swimming, sunburning, eating some more, renting a yacht to head to an island, snorkeling, seeing turtles, eating lots and lots more, drinking waaaayyy too many frozen drinks, watching the kids swim with dolphins and believe it or not eating again and again and then when you can eat anymore you order room service for some more. the kids thought that all inclusive resort was the coolest thing ever. our resort was amazing. the girls loved going to the kids club every afternoon for arts and crafts. it had 2 huge water slides. it was never busy anywhere and the restaurants and shows every night were a huge hit.
we flew out sunday morning after being to the airport at 4:30am, barely getting on the plane in time in boise, thinking half of us weren't going to make it on the plane and a long day of travel we couldn't wait to get to the resort. sunday we swam in the ocean and the pools, played on the beach, drank way too many pina coladas and cherry cokes and checked out everything the resort had to offer.
monday we hung at the hotel, we burnt, so bad, so so bad, sunscreen doesn't work down there like it does here. we got smart after monday. ayla took the brunt of it, she in and out of the water all day and the sunscreen must of just washed off. the poor girl! she was such a trooper though.
tuesday we headed back into cancun to get on our yacht and head out to isla muejeres. we snorkeled in the open ocean, it was petrifying, i didn't like it one bit, way to stressful with the kids. then we went to the island and snorkeled there and that was amazing, fish were everywhere and you could walk around, not swim and not have to deal with the air holes. we laid on the whitest beaches and played in the warmest water there. on the ride back to cancun we spotted many turtles, they were so awesome. then i got sick and we couldn't get back fast enough. that night for dinner we went to the hibatchi grill. the kids were in heaven. they thought having someone cook in front of them was the coolest thing ever.
wednesday was another hotel day, kiddie pool and waterslides for the win. my dad and burke made themselves a competition that day, they had to drink 12 pina coladas, go get 4 ice cream cones and eat 3 pretzels all before bed. oh boy. they both did it and burke was very proud of himself that he didn't even get sick. my poor dad on the other hand... the girls loved doing arts and crafts in the afternoons at the kids club too. that night the street markets came to the hotel and we were able to barter and get the kids some souvenirs. they couldn't believe how much the vendors change their price and how far they are willing to come down. they thought it was awesome.
thursday we found out the beach bar down by the ocean served drinks in a coconut, it was a hit and it was swim with the dolphins day. the coolest thing ever! dolphins are amazing and brilliant. highlight of the trip was watching them being able to do that. we went to a show that night in the theater, most interesting show i have ever seen.
friday afternoon we flew back home, got home late that night but just in time for the boys go get to play in their game on saturday.
BEST WEEK EVER. BEST TRIP YET.
