chase and i went to Mexico last week with juan and tonya, kid-free for 5 WHOLE ENTIRE DAYS. it was so much fun. our hotel was all inclusive so everything was there for us. all the food and drinks we could ever want. it was awesome. we drank our body weight daily in cherry cokes and pina coladas. we had such a good time.
but, i would be lying if i said i didnt miss my kiddos. for some reason i had the worst anxiety attack/ feeling the first evening there, all i wanted to do was come home. i decided to call and talk to the kiddos and after that i felt so much better and was able to relax. the first few hours there i couldn't think about anything but home, it was so strange! i had been waiting and longing for this trip for so long and then it came and i wanted to go home, WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME! i'm glad it only lasted a few hours.
our hotel was awesome. we had a sweet room right on the beach. everyday was an adventure. we laughed and laughed at how lucky we were. first off we barely made our first flight. we were sprinting through the airport. turns out, even in the tiny boise airport you have to arrive 90 minutes early or they refuse to check your bags. who knew! which makes it hard when you have bags to check! so we grabbed everything out of our check in bag, threw it into our carry-ons, i have no clue how we got away with the amount of stuff we carried on, but we did. and since we fought them and spent so much time talking with them we started to run out of time. oh, and i guess you cant even get a ticket if you dont have your boarding passes 30 minutes prior to boarding time. we finally convinced them that wasn't our fault since they made us spend so much dang time talking to them about our luggage, so we grabbed our boarding passes and started sprinting. we got through security with 5 minutes to spare or so we thought. right as we were just getting to the right terminal they announced that our flight had 30 seconds until their doors closed. im sure we looked like quite the site. chase and i had all our carry on bags running since juan and tonya went through security after us. (we thought we were being helpful) the lady at the gate started freaking out on us saying we couldn't carry it all on, we were trying to tell her our friends were coming and half it was theirs but i guess that was much to confusing for her to understand so chase finally just set their stuff down and walked off since she was chewing us out to get on the plane. then she went PSYCHO telling us we couldnt get on the plane and we cant leave bags on the ground. it was hilarious. they finally showed up, picked up their bags and we got on the plane. not even two seconds after we sat down they pulled away from our gate. it was nuts. but so so funny.
we ended up renting a car in mexico. mexican drivers are CRAZY.
the second day we drove an hour outside of cabo to some local amazing surfing beach. it was sketchy and hard to find, they don't like signs in mexico, but we found it and it was awesome. and everyone over there was so nice and helpful.
tonya got stung on her arm by a jellyfish when we were snorkeling. so i booked it out of the water. she said it felt like a burn, it hurt way bad. chase was determined to cliff jump off a sketchy crab infested rock at the exact time tonya got stung. and he would only jump once i swam ALL THE WAY BACK, got my phone and filmed him. meanwhile juan is worried tonya is going to get paralyzed from her jellyfish problem and sink to the bottom of the ocean. so i was a little busy helping them.
we found a bomb flea market in cabo.
we went zipliing.
we returned to the flea market and parked on a street with hundreds of other cars. turns out you cant park there and so we got a ticket on our window. luckily juan is mexican and speaks spanish perfectly so he could figure out what we needed to do. chase and i said lets not worry about it. we flew out the next day, what were they going to do come to america and make us pay them?. but he wanted to fix it. and good thing to, turns out when they ticket you they take your license plate too. who knew! no way we could of returned our car without a license plate the next day. the local guy said to go to mcdonalds that's where the police hang out to try to get our license plate back. they must of not felt like mcdondals that night because no one was there, we found a cop at a gas startion, a nice lite people filled gas station. he had our license plate luckily. he told us to follow him. he drove a few blocks and pulled into a pitch black alley, it was around 10 pm) and asked for money to get our plate back. chase kept running back to the car. i didnt even know how much money we were giving him at the time but it seemed like a TON, he finally said that was enough, put the money under his leg and gave our plate back. and it turns out it was $32 that we paid him. not bad! but man pesos are lame. they make you feel broke. we were handing them to chase by the 50 and 100's. we put the plate back on and went to the hotel and spent hours laughing about how sketchy that was and how luckily we were.
i got the worst heat rash the last few days there. my legs swelled up so bad, they were the worst by far. and it was so painfu. they got so swollen at the end i could barely bend my knees and ankles. it was crazy!
the flight home we flew through an electrical storm. it was insane and totally freaky. i haven't ever been so close to lightening in my life.
