Thanksgiving break started early for some of us. burke was exposed to covid-19 at school, on the bus ride home, only in the afternoon on november 10. they called and told me on November 18 so he was already 8 days into his supposed 14 day quarantine time period, only 2 days left before thanksgiving break began, and even though he was already at school all those days and had his birthday party the kid with no symptoms, he still needed to stay home. the kiddo who tested positive was on the bus that one afternoon and didn't even sit with burke and since the bus ride home is only 10 minutes so i wasn't too worried but none the less burke had a nice long break! everyone was off the week of thanksgiving included chase. we headed up to the cabin with the fuller fam for a little winter wonderland monday to tuesday. one night without water and a good ole toilet was plenty for us. we had lots of fun playing in the snow and walking around on the lake. that seemed like it was barely even frozen over. i was freaked by it all. you could see all the way to the bottom too and you can NEVER see the bottom in that gross water. walking on frozen scares me to death. especially watching my kids do it. on our way home tuesday we went to some natural hot springs up in the mountains. it was so pretty with the snow around and having the place to ourselves was a huge plus. our cabin winter trip was a success!
we came home and spent thanksgiving with my family. eating a yummy dinner, the deroins's weren't there, logan was sick so they were not able to come over, but we still had a fun family time. we watched mulan and relaxed all day since shopping this year had been cancelled.
saturday we headed to the mountains again to get our christmas tree. spent a while hiking around til we found the perfect one, our height this year was a little off and ended up cutting off about as tall as we needed once we got home. whoops. we had a fire with hot dogs, went sledding and gathered lots of branches. ty and burke were able to cut down a free tree since they are 5th graders so they had fun picking out a tree and i have loved having lots of long needle branches laying around the house.
