the fourth of july is always a highlight of our year. we were worried that covid would shut down the parade and steadman's water slide and kill all of the fourth of july fun but rupert held strong and we got to celebrate just like we always do. we had a blast. we left boise and as we were loading up to leave i found a murder hornet, or i think it was one. it was HUGE.
we stayed a night at the bruneau sand dunes on our way to rupert. we played in the sand, climbed hill after hill, went scorpion hunting, got attacked by mosquitos, sooo many mosquitos and i lost one of my flip flops in the sand. never to be found again. nothing like walking back to camp one shoed knowing there are scorpions, not to mention the hot rock and sand underneath my foot.
we got to rupert and started our festivities right away and went non stop the entire time. we bleached matching shirts for everyone to wear on the fourth. we went to the concert. ate the food truck food. went to steadmans. had ma's custard. did the parade and fireworks. played lots of yard games. the egg challenge. bridge jumping into the canal. canal swimming. fireworks at the farm. roman candle wears. burnt clothes. uncle steve dared the kids to eat crickets and millworms. lots of maverick runs and card games. got taco banitio then came home exhausted but ready to make a 24 hour turn around to get to the cabin.
