happy independence day!
we spent the fourth of july in rupert. tegan and burke have been waiting for this trip for months. they couldn't wait to be a part of the rodeo.
i was nervous for them. i wanted them to have fun and enjoy it. for weeks tegan had been talking about it. he needed to know everything. what would happen. how he could win. how to get off. how fast the sheep was.... yada yada. burke never said two words about it. i knew that if we saw any kids get up crying our chances to get our kids on would be over. we managed to get tegan on the second sheep. he did great. his sheep was HUGE and fast. but after falling off he popped right up and walked back to us. YAY. he did it. i was so proud of him because i know how timid he is. we didnt have such luck with burke. he was way down in the line. 20 people probably went before him. some got up crying some didnt even want to get up off the dirt at all. their parents had to go get them... we tried to distract him once the kids fell off incase they did start crying. he did great until we sat him on the sheep. then you could see the panic in his eyes. i told the guy he was ready and right before they pulled the gate open they called the gate next to us.. oh great. my heart sank. my 4 year old was sitting in a sheep in a stall for another 30 seconds. he was freaking out. he wanted off. he didnt want to go. luckily chase was down there holding the sheep in place and calming burke. then they called his name and off he went. he did great too! burke lasted longer on the sheep than tegan did. they both did so good and i couldnt be more proud of those two. such brave kids we have.
best 4 and 5 year old mutton bustin kiddos i have ever seen!
WE WERE SO PROUD OF YOU BOYS!!!
after the rodeo we lite some fireworks, saturday we floated the canal, rode motorcycles and enjoyed our time on the farm. my kids would love to live on a farm. and im starting to think i would love it myself.
