school has been different this year, much different. it started all online with daily remote learning, then we moved into a hybrid school schedule. they went every other day to the building with the off days being home remote learning for a few weeks. now they are slowly phasing elementary schools back in. ayla started going to the building full time last week. today mya goes back full time, the following monday 5th grade begins so burke will go back then as well. then it will be just tegan and i home every other day. there is no plans to get middle school into the buildings everyday yet. and at any point in time they can call it quits and send all the kids back home to full home remote learning. even with all the uncertainties we have put smiles on our faces and are going to make it a good school year, come what may.
ayla is not loving going to school everyday while everyone else gets to stay home with me. its been hard and has made for long bedtime routines with a lot of tears. the poor girl. while they are at school they must wear masks. sit 10 feet apart. eat lunch out of paper bags. the drinking fountains are turned off, they have to have water bottles to fill up. they can play on the playground equipment but cant take their own basketballs or footballs. no tetherball. there is no morning recess, they go straight to their classes. no parents are allowed on campus. sporting events are 1 parent at away meets and 2 parents at home meets. but they love school. they all want to go back so bad, weird rules or not. so we are making the most of this year. they love to go to school and be with their friends. they have great teachers that are trying their hardest to make this work. they are lucky to have them.
