September was quite the month. A whirlwind of sickness, doctor visits, dentist visits, even an ER visit, sport practices, games, school functions and chase's birthday bash. we spent the better part of the month fighting the most random illnesses. i started it off with my insanely painful and annoying throat problems, the canker sores were back all down my throat and a few in my mouth, this time i was even lucky enough to get some on my lips. whhhyyyy... it also came with a UTI that gave me a fever over 103 for 72 hours straight. at one point we checked it and my fever was 106. i have never felt so hot but cold. it was very strange. i finally kicked the fever and although the canker sores are so painful i started to feel much better. i really need someone to figure out why this keeps happening!
after i started to get better burke started to run a fever. his chapped lips weeks before cracked then that crack got split open and kept getting deeper and deeper and apparently it got infected somehow. it was awful and look soooo painful. he was miserable for a week and needed a few rounds of antibiotics to kick the infection. who knew chapped lips could do that!
mya also started to complain about her spacer in her mouth so we took her to the dentist who took it out yet. when he took it out it somehow created an infection in her top gum, sores formed around all her top teeth along the gum line and they turned bright red and were soooo swollen. she didn't eat anything more than graham crackers and milk for a week straight and woke up screaming all hours of the night. it was exhausting. nothing could relieve her pain.
in 2 weeks three of us had 3 different mouth issues, none relating to the next, and all needing a doctors visit or two. burke and mya already missed more days of school this year then they did the entire year last year. whoops.
in the midst of all that chase celebrated his birthday! he is officially a 34 year old. he spent the entire day working then headed straight to lacrosse practice to coach burke's team then to watched tegans football game. such a wonderful way to celebrate. it was a bummer that we couldn't do more but the next day was saturday and i had planned a fun little birthday bash for him. we went rock climbing with some friends and had a blast. we went fancy for dinner at los betos (mexican fast food) then rock climbing, then ended the night with some ice cream.
i spent a week canning lots of applesauce and making apple pie filling with heidi. we made a ton of applesauce then decided it was way too much work and way to much of a mess so we finished off our apples by making apple pie filling. much much quicker and less messy! ayla loved helping with the applesauce and when we made the apple pie filling she spent more time eating the apples then coring them.
we went dirt biking a few times, went to the hawks baseball game with the griffeth's, it was kindness week at school that tegan was in charge of since he is on student council. and very very busy with football and lacrosse.
we finished off the month with a bang. chase took a spill down a mountain side mountain biking last week. he decided to crash 4 miles away from their truck and up in the middle of no where. i got a phone called from rustin's phone around 11pm, chase said he crashed and he broke his shoulder or collarbone maybe both and that they were around 4 miles from their car and were going to attempt to get back to the truck and they would call me when they got there. i called my mom to come sit with the kiddos while i headed downtown the the hospital to wait for chase. i knew that he would want to come home and attempt to make it until morning so he wouldn't have to go to the ER but i didn't want to risk that, so when they got back in service and called i was already waiting the in ER parking lot and good thing too because i guess he was throwing up very often as they were trying to get outta there. We needed to rule out a concussion. luckily, he had no concussion but he did have a grade 3 separated shoulder. they gave him a sling and told us to meet with an orthopedic surgeon within the next week. we luckily got into the doc the following day. he said he crashed sooooo bad that it was good. there wasn't anything he could do to fix it because he tore it all apart so perfectly that going in and repairing it would cause more damage than good in the long run. there wasn't anything hanging on by a thread or just partially torn and all the major muscles were still completely intact so he just needs to rest it, keep it in the sling for a while and we would reevaluate in 3 weeks. as long as his shoulder doesn't continue to drop when the swelling goes away then no surgery for him! 6 -8 weeks and he should be back to normal.. ish.. his shoulder will always have a dent and be lower with a huge bump on his back from the bone out of place but we will take it! way better than the surgery option. fingers crossed it doesnt fall any lower. he has been recovering well so far. the poor guy.
for the next two months we will be taking it easy. something that we don't do very often.
