we had plans to go camping last weekend but all the fires around here have made the air so bad and a thick smoke is everywhere so we bagged camping in 100 degree weather and decided to make a weekend of fun instead, plus the kids have loved sleeping in the backyard on the back porch every night. they have quite the set up too.
whitney had some build a bear coupons so we headed to the mall friday morning to build some bears. the kids found cute monsters that they could make, you could mix and match their arms and legs so everyones is a little different... we had $15 dollar off coupons so each monster ended up only being 2.50 each! it was so awesome, we spent $10 total.. score and the kids looooved it.
friday night we went to the drive in with the stephenson's and fuller's, watched hotel transylvania 3 and incredibles 2.. the first movie started at 9:50 the second at 11:40pm. all my kiddos stayed awake through the first movie, i finally talked ayla into falling asleep at 1:10am, she was so tired but wanted to keep watching jack jack, she tried sooo hard to stay awake and she did stay awake for so long. chase and i were surprised she made it that late! the big kids made it all the way until we got home at 3:00 am, unloaded the mattress and stuff and got everyone to bed around 3:30.. they are crazy. it caught up to tegan real quickly though, he threw up on the way home because he was so tired... its his new thing, sleep deprivation for him = throwing up!! it is the strangest thing but it now has happened a handful of times this summer.. that kid needs his sleep, something that we have been lacking with all our outings and trips this summer. but, we had a blast partying into the wee hours of the morning.
saturday morning after sleeping in close to noon we headed off to the river to float it. i hadn't floated the river in years, probably before high school, and doing it the day after a wicked late night might not of been the best idea we ever had. i think everyone was a little tired and being out in 100 degree weather for hours on end, trapped in a raft was less than desirable on my end. the kids loved every single second if it and keep asking when we can go again. we left home at 1:00 didn't get our raft until 3:30.. the line was so long and waiting outside for it was quite toasty, we floated until about 6:00, it took about 2.5 hours, about 45 minutes too long, ayla was done by the end. then got home about 7:15, the boys had to go and retrieve our cars at the top once we got out at the bottom then come pick all of us up... it made for a loooong hot day but it was spent with good friends so even when i think about how miserable it seemed it really wasn't that bad and i just might do it again... as long as we buy a raft and dont have to rent one.
