we hike jump creek, it was BEAUTIFUL. we had perfect weather and the boys had a blast. mya wasn't a huge fan, maybe because in the first few minutes chase slipped while holding mya's hand and seemed to of taken her down with him, landing on her and squishing her like a little bug on the rocks and dirt. which she did not love. you would of thought the teeny tiny cut she got on her finger was actually 2 broken arms and a broken leg. lets just say she is all about the dramatics lately! but to chases credit he claims she fell and pulled him down on her way down. really, all 180 lbs of you got pulled down by the 40 pounder??, i totally believe him. dont you?
the hike is quite a simple hike. leading to a waterfall tucked back up in between a rocky canyon. the simple hiked turned not simple when i took the wrong path and we climbed up a steep hill onto a cliffy trail that then ended abruptly, only to have to go back down the way we came up. the entire time i was wondering how kids were suppose to hike this. it seems much to deadly to me. my heart was racing the entire time. at one point the trail was washed out and you had to jump to the other side. well if you didnt land perfectly, which what kid lands like a pro on dirt, it would of been quite the deadly fall. so once the trail ended and we looked down and saw the simple trail then it all made sense. oops. ayla did not like going downhill. that scared her to death. she screamed to go bye bye the whole way down. the correct trail, was easy and fun, the boys explored every cave and rocky area while mya stayed an arms length away. tegan did manage to fall into the freezing cold creek, even though the path was 5 ft big. and burke decided he need to go to the bathroom and couldn't wait so a few feet off the trail he went and then proceeded to yell for toilet paper. ummm... and ayla just chilled in her pack on my back the entire time.
