so last night chases mom called and told us to hurry and turn on the food network channel because they were having the ultimate wedding cake contest... and on it they were making a zebra wedding cake.. for those of you who dont know my sister is getting married on may 2 and her colors are black, white, hot pink with a splash, as she would say, of ZEBRA! its going to be awesome.. so anyways... i sat watching this show for about an hour, totally loving every second of it... and now i want to learn how to make wedding cakes, fondant wedding cakes to be exact.. its my new plan, hobby, interest, idea... whatever! they made it look so easy, which im sure its not, and all the cool things that they would do with fondant. so heres the plan.... i'm going to make/try, probably a trillion times, to make a zebra wedding cake for whit! zebra on the bottom, hot pink polka dots on the middle and the top, zebra and polka dots!!! how adorable would that be?!
I can totally do it.. i know it! haha... we will see.
so i have been looking for information on the internet.. mostly because tegan is sleeping and i'm quite bored without him, but i have found some AMAZING cakes! and some recipes for how to make fondant.. since that would probably be step one! wish me luck! i will post some pictures of my cake when i do it.. you all should be waiting on the edge of your seats in anticipation!!!
picture this...the zebra of course but instead of the flowers... polka dots.. and yes im going to make mine all tilty like that... probably not on purpose though!

and then when its tegans first birthday i will make him a wicked cake also! like so...

and...

now tell me.. this is going to be the sweetest talent EVER!

Cortney, glad to see you have renewed your blog. Wow! You go girl. Bake up a storm. When you become a professional then you can teach me. Ha Ha! Whitney will love it, not only the cake but the fact that her sister made it. GOOD LUCK!
Nice! That would be an impressive talent! I went to enrichment tonight where all the sisters showed off their cake skills and it inspired me. So when you learn, teach me!
Cort, can I be your ultimate cake taste-tester??? You ought to have one, you know, and I'm completely available for the job.
it's so fun cortney! if you need a good recipe for fondant, i have one. my teacher refuses to use the fondant from the store because it tastes so gross. so i have one that is pretty much just marshmallows and powdered sugar. let me know if you want it!
More power to ya!!!! Hope it goes well for you.
Pretty impressive!! Good luck!!!
